Creative Chrome was founded in 2002 by Steve and Janet King, and has since been building a reputation for the production of high-quality dental prosthetics. The company expanded in 2003 when their son, Richard, joined as an apprentice technician, and in 2005 they were joined by their other son, David. The laboratory is situated within a Victorian model farm courtyard complex in an area of outstanding natural beauty close to the national heritage coastal path, the river Otter and the sea. The farm complex, owned by Clinton Devon Estates, recently won an award for the innovative conversion of the redundant farm buildings into a thriving business community. Other businesses at the site include a gun-case maker, a tea and coffee merchant and the farm shop. This setting is ideally suited to the main aim of the business, which is to produce quality work with a friendly service for the discerning private client.
Creative Chrome takes professional development seriously. To preserve the standards of the laboratory, the technical staff attend various courses on advanced denture design, such as an advanced seminar on life-like complete dentures given by Dr John Besford and Ruth Bourke in December 2004 and another in advanced prosthodontics given by Charlotte Stilwell in September 2007.
